Bio-sketch

My name is Yu-Lin Song (Eugene) from Chia-Yi. I am currently an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and Department of Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering at the Asia University since Feb. 2016, with research focus on “Developing automation ultrasound scanner system and integrating hardware and software systems” which has been granted (105/08/01 ~ 108/07/31 Ministry of Science and Technology and personal type program PI). I have been devoted myself on academic studies and on passing my research experiences to the next generations.

I will then briefly introduce about my qualification for this position through listing my significant research and working experience in the following paragraphs.

I am from a rigorous and open family that develop my cheerful and enthusiastic attitude toward my whole life. During the college, I was double majoring in Mathematics and Physics due to my interests in the basic sciences whole-heartedly, with this solid training in both majors supporting my great research progress thereafter.

During my master degree, I worked with my advisors, Professor Zhong-Yu Mu and Professor Yong-De Yao, in the Institute of Physics, Academia Sinica, with the research objectives on low-temperature electron transport properties, which include both theoretical and practical experiments. Firstly, about the physical theory of low-temperature electron transport, I have explored different physical characteristics at low temperature. Secondly, low-temperature quantum theoretical calculations obtained physics characteristics. When the electrons in disordered systems, there are two major quantum effects that cause transmission interference by electron-electron interaction effects and weaken local effect. Combining theory and experiment, we got linearly proportional relationship between the Δρ / √T and ρ2.5. To verify it, a three-dimensional electron-electron interaction theory were proposed.

In my Ph.D. period, I worked with professors from different fields, including Professor Chen-Shui Tsai (UCI), Professor Xiu-Lan Cheng (CSULB), Professor Jheng-Wei Chen (NTU), and Professor Yuan-Fang Chou (NTU), at the Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica. Under the discussions and debates with professors, I truly realized the meaning of "knowledge". It is not only just to learn how to find and solve problems, but also to share with scholars in different fields and to discuss how to solve problems more quickly and efficiently with cooperation. In my doctoral dissertation, I focused on two topics: one is spray pyrolysis synthesis of nano-particles, and the other one is a high-frequency silicon base atomization. Target of the high frequency ultrasonic atomizer produced small and uniform droplets, to serve as a spray pyrolysis synthesis for nano-particles. Meanwhile, it includes a variety of disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, materials, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering knowledge. These experiences lead me to a deeper knowledge, wider my vision, and strengthen my abilities on the researches.

In postdoctoral research stage, I went to the University of California, Irvine, and engaged in scientific research for five years. I took responsibility of rebuilding a mechanical and electrical engineering laboratory for Professor Chen-Shui Tsai. My research focused on lung disease drug delivery biomedical device. During studying abroad, the attitude, the rigorousness, and the spirit of international scholars had profoundly inspired me on my way to the research career. After backing to Taiwan, I join the group of Research of Biomedical Device. Group members include Dr. Yu-Xiang Chen, Dr. Dian-Zhen Liu (NTU, Medical College), Professor Jheng-Weil Chen (NTU, Physics), and Professor Yuan-Fang Chou (NTU, ME). Our team’s main research topic include four projects: "Novel SAW element of applied research and development of drug delivery", "Treatment of middle ear disease and new hearing aids research "," Polymer nano coating and drying technology for pharmaceutical delivery application "and" ZnO nano-rods used in LED photoelectric characteristics of a plan to enhance the research ".

From Feb. 2014 to Jan. 2016, I was a research fellow at Biomedical Engineering Research and Development Center, National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan. Currently, six research projects have been executed: “High Order Talent Biotechnology Training and Employment Program Phase III” (104/07/01 ~ 105/06/01 Ministry of Science, co-PI), “Rong Yang Aging Plan - Develop Novel Ultrasound Image Processing Design for Analytical Muscle Density” (104/04/01 to 105/03/31 sub-project PI), “SPARK YM Project” 103/08/01 ~ 105/07/31 (sub-project PI), “High-Frequency Ultrasound Guided Anesthesia Puncture Probe System” (103/08/01 to 105/07/31 embryonic project co-PI), “The Development of Novel Ultrasound Muscle Density Detection” (103/11/01 ~ 106/10/31 integrated science program PI) and “Development of Ultrasonic Atomizer for Formulating Miniature Carrier with Chitosan-Coating” (103/07/01 ~ 106/06/30 Ministry of Science and Technology and personal type program PI).
